- CSK have won their last two home games
- RCB have lost their last four on the road against CSK
- Virat Kohli top-scored for RCB in their opening match with 59 not out
Head To Head
CSK have won six of their last 10 against RCB, with the latter winning the other four.
Chennai Super Kings Form
After finishing 2024 outside of the playoff spots, Chennai Super Kings were in need of a big performance as they look to ensure the disappointment of last year does not follow them into the new season.
Taking on last year's biggest underachievers in Mumbai Indians, CSK restricted their opponents to 155/9 before battling to a four-wicket win with five balls to spare. Rachin Ravindra was excellent in the chase as he scored 65 not out.
RCB arrive as one of the form teams in the tournament when taking into account last season. However, CSK have won their last four home games against RCB, and I predict that their win in the opening game of the season will see them over the line in this one.
Royal Challengers Bangalore Form
Royal Challengers Bangalore were brilliant in their opening match of the season as they romped to a seven-wicket win over reigning champions Kolkata Knight Riders.
Central to their win was the opening partnership between Virat Kohli (59 not out) and Phil Salt (56), with the pair putting on 95 for the first wicket. While Salt was excellent opening the batting, it always felt like Kohli's wicket would decide which side one. As it was, KKR could not remove Kohli, allowing RCB to canter to their target with 22 balls to spare.
The worry for RCB heading into this one is that they have lost their last four away games against CSK. While I predict a close game as Kohli continues to star with the bat, I believe home advantage will play a big role as RCB slip to their first defeat of the season.
Verdict
I am backing CSK to continue their impressive run against RCB on their own patch with a win despite Kohli scoring well once again.
