England vs Sri Lanka Tips

England are eyeing a 3-0 series sweep over Sri Lanka this week after comfortably beating their opponents across the opening two Tests.

Sri Lanka have shown glimpses of their quality in the first two Tests, but they have let themselves down with the bat across the series.

Head To Head

England have won their last two Test matches against Sri Lanka comfortably, with the first Test ending in a win by five wickets, while the second Test saw them win by 190 runs.

England Form

England have been enjoying their summer of cricket, winning all five of the Test matches they have played.

Their wins over the West Indies came against a side that is not in the upper-echelon of quality in the Test game, but Sri Lanka have been much better of late. England's dominance over their opponents has been impressive.

Gus Atkinson continues to impress with the ball, while Jamie Smith has been excellent with the bat and gloves. However, the main man continues to be Joe Root. Two centuries in the last Test put on full show his quality, and Root will be looking to fill his boots once again, with England's greatest ever batsman in fine form right now.

Sri Lanka Form

Sri Lanka arrived for the Test series against England on the back of two wins ODI over India. While the Test and ODI scene is entirely different, the confidence Sri Lanka will have taken from these wins cannot be underestimated.

However, they have come up against an English side playing some superb cricket, and they have struggled to match them. The aggressive bowling and quick run scoring their hosts have employed has been a major issue for the tourists, who have so often had no answer with bat or ball.

While Sri Lanka will take a lot from their Test series again England, they will be looking forward to returning home and utilising their own conditions against New Zealand later this month.
