Argentina vs Venezuela Preview & Tips

Argentina are looking to bounce back from their 1-0 loss to Ecuador in their last match back in September.

Venezuela were hammered 6-3 by Colombia in their last competitive game as their losing run was extended to three matches.

  • Argentina are unbeaten in their last five against Venezuela (W4, D1)
  • Three of the last four meetings between the sides have seen over 2.5 goals scored

Head To Head

Argentina have enjoyed recent meetings with Venezuela, securing six wins, losing once and drawing the other three times.

Argentina Form

Argentina secured their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup on the back of 12 wins, two draws and four defeats. While they were far from perfect, they got the job done.

Finishing nine points ahead of Ecuador was very impressive, and the fact they finished 20 points above Venezuela in eighth is a further show of their quality. In this time, they scored 31 goals and conceded 10 times.

In their recent matches against Venezuela, Argentina have been very good. They have won four of their last five and drawn the other. Goals have generally been the order of the day, with over 2.5 goals scored in three of their last four.

I back Argentina to continue to build towards the World Cup with a win in an entertaining friendly that sees goals.

Venezuela Form

Venezuela will still be hugely disappointed to have missed out on a potential World Cup spot after a qualifying campaign that failed to catch fire.

18 points from 18 games saw them finish two points below Bolivia in seventh, with their hopes of snaring the Intercontinental Play-off spot dashed. With three defeats coming from their last three, Venezuela could not climb up the table.

With their failed World Cup qualifying campaign still ringing in their ears, Venezuela will want to find a way to bounce back. However, they have struggled against Argentina, securing a single draw across their last five meetings.

I back goals in this one as Venezuela’s leaky defence, which conceded 28 times across qualifying, struggles once again.

Verdict

I am backing Argentina to secure the win as the pair score over 2.5 goals between them in an entertaining friendly.
