Arsenal vs Brentford Preview & Tips

Arsenal are looking to continue their supreme start to the season, with the London side trying to edge towards the turn of the year by building on their lead at the summit.

Brentford have overachieved so far considering they were forced to part company with their manager and many of their best players.

  • Arsenal have won five of their six home matches, drawing the other game
  • Brentford have only won once on the road (L5)
  • Both sides have scored in their last three meetings

Head To Head

Arsenal have won seven of their last 10 against Brentford, with the latter winning once and two games ending as draws.

Arsenal Form

Arsenal have excelled in the league this season, with their home form seeing them go unbeaten at the Emirates Stadium.

Five wins and a single draw have come alongside 16 goals scored and just two conceded. With 16 points coming from their opening six, Arsenal have been proving that they are nearly unbeatable at home. Indeed, the all-conquering Bayern Munich were sent on their way with a 3-1 defeat when they visited the Emirates Stadium last week.

While Brentford have found a way to breach Arsenal’s defence in their last three meetings, I do not see them outscoring their opponents in this one. The Gunners have been outstanding at finding a way to take all three points from the opposition this season, and I back more of the same in this match as they bounce back from their 1-1 draw with Chelsea at the weekend.

Brentford Form

Brentford will likely need to find a way to pick up points more consistently on the road if they are to avoid the drop this season.

With their home form accounting for a large proportion of their total points, Brentford’s one win in six on the road shows their away performances have not been good enough. Indeed, their last two away games have ended in defeats to Crystal Palace (2-0) and Brighton (2-1), with Brentford edged out in both matches.

While Brentford arrive for this one as the underdogs, meaning there is little pressure on them, I do not see them winning this one. Arsenal have been the team to beat this season, and I predict that Brentford will be the seventh team to fail to beat Arsenal at the Emirates in the league this season.

Verdict

I am backing both sides to hit the back of the net as the Gunners storm to yet another home win in the league.
