Arsenal vs Tottenham Preview & Tips

Arsenal still sit at the top of the Premier League table despite their surprising 2-2 draw with Sunderland in their last outing before the international break.

Tottenham were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw with Manchester United as the pair shared the points in the league.

  • Four of Tottenham’s five league wins this season have come on the road
  • Spurs are yet to lose away from home (W4, D1)

Head To Head

Arsenal have won six of their last 10 against Tottenham, with Sours winning three times and one game ending as a draw.

Arsenal Form

Arsenal may arrive for their latest clash with arch-rivals Tottenham at the top of the Premier League table, but they can take little for granted against an opponent that will give anything to knock them off their perch.

Their last outing saw the Gunners drop two points against Sunderland as they conceded a 94th minute goal away to their high-flying opponents. While Sunderland have only lost twice all season, the Gunners will know their draw was a chance missed as Manchester City moved to within four points of the leaders.

While Arsenal boast four wins and one draw in five home matches in the league, Tottenham arrive with the same record on the road. Generally, Arsenal have found it difficult to make the most out of strong runs in previous seasons, with something invariably derailing them. I am backing the Gunners to slip to a frustrating result in this one as they make it two without a win in the league.

Tottenham Form

If this were to be a match Tottenham were hosting, I would be backing against them, such are their woes at home. One win from six matches sees Tottenham sitting in 19th on the form table at home after a torrid start.

However, away from home, they have a real chance. Spurs have won four of their opening five, drawing the other game. With 12 goals scored and just three conceded, they have scored the joint-most goals away from home, while they have conceded the fewest goals on the road too.

Tottenham’s recent form against Arsenal is not great, but they arrive for this one as the major underdogs despite their supreme form on the road. With this in mind, it makes Draw/Tottenham in the double chance market event more desirable, and I am backing the travelling side to blow the Premier League wide open with a big result

Verdict

I am backing Spurs to deny Arsenal all three points as they leave the Emirates Stadium by extending their unbeaten away run in the league to six matches.
