Arsenal vs Wigan Preview & Tips

Arsenal arrive for their latest FA Cup match on the back of a comfortable 4-1 win over Portsmouth in the last round.

Wigan were beaten 2-1 by Reading in their last league match as they made it four consecutive defeats heading into this one.

Arsenal have won seven of their last 10 against Wigan, with the latter winning twice and one game ending as a draw.

Arsenal continue to battle for four different trophies this season, with the FA Cup, Premier League, Champions League and EFL Cup all still up for grabs.

In the past, matches like this might have caused Arsenal some issues, but the Gunners are now so well drilled that regardless of the side they choose for this one, they should win comfortably.

The Gunners have won their last three against Wigan, with Arsenal securing a 4-1 win the last time they hosted Athletic. Having scored four goals in a 4-1 win over Portsmouth in the last round, I predict that this one will see goals as the Gunners easily beat their opponents.

Wigan Form

Wigan have already had to battle through three rounds of fixtures to make it to their clash with Arsenal after beating Hemel Hempstead, Barrow and Preston.

Despite a solid run in the FA Cup, Wigan arrive for their clash with Arsenal on the back of a six-game winless run in the league. Five matches have ended in defeat, with one game ending as a draw. Worrying will be that their last away game ended in a 6-1 thumping at the hands of Peterborough.

While Wigan will arrive knowing that little is expected of them against the side currently sitting at the top of the football league, I do not predict that this will see them get close to springing a surprise.
