Aston Villa vs Everton Preview & Tips

Aston Villa were held by Crystal Palace in a hugely frustrating 0-0 draw in their last league match as they missed out on the chance to move closer to Arsenal as the summit.

Everton were also left frustrated in their last league game as they were held by bottom of the table Wolves in a 1-1 draw.

  • Villa have only lost once at home this season (W8, D1)
  • Villa have seen both sides score in seven of their last eight league matches

Head To Head

Villa have won seven of their last 10 against Everton, with the Toffees winning once and two games ending as draws.

Aston Villa Form

Aston Villa continue to defy expectation in the Premier League, with the side still in the hunt for the Premier League title after 21 matches.

The 43 points they have collected means they sit level with Manchester City, while they are only six behind Arsenal at the summit. With the run-in only likely to become more intense, Villa know they simply have to beat an Everton side that sits in 12th in the table if they are to continue their challenge.

The home side have secured seven wins across their last 10 against the Toffees, while they have won eight of their 10 at home this season. While I do not back them to keep a clean sheet, I believe that Villa will extend their stunning home run in the league.

Everton Form

Everton became the latest side to drop points against Wolves as they were held in a 1-1 draw by their struggling opponents.

This draw means Everton are yet to secure a league win in 2026, while they have now lost two of their last three when including their 2-1 loss to Sunderland in the Cup at the weekend. On the road, Everton have been fairly strong, avoiding defeat in four of their 10 league outings with this run featuring four wins and two draws.

However, taking on the third best team in the league will test every inch of the travelling side. While I back them to extend their run of scoring in each game to five matches in all competitions, I do not see them winning this one.

Verdict

I am backing Villa to secure another win at Villa Park despite failing to keep a clean sheet once again.
