Aston Villa vs Manchester United Preview & Tips

Aston Villa could move level with Arsenal at the summit this weekend if they can beat Manchester United and other results go their way.

Manchester United are looking to make a major statement as they chase a top four spot after an improved run of form.

  • Villa have won their last six Premier League matches
  • The home side have seen both teams score in their last three
  • United have scored and failed to keep a clean sheet in their last four

Head To Head

Manchester United have won six of their last 10 against Villa, with the latter winning once and three games ending as draws.

Aston Villa Form

Aston Villa have been exceptional this season, with the side currently a point behind Manchester City in second and three points short of Arsenal at the summit.

10 wins, three draws and three defeats has seen Villa begin the season in fine form, while they currently boast a six-game winning in the league. Across competitions, Villa have won their last nine, while their last home game saw them hand Arsenal only their second defeat of the league season.

While Villa have been poor across their last 10 against United, they are my pick to take all three points from this one. United's form has been patchy, while Villa continue to prove that they are fully deserving of their place among the best.

Manchester United Form

Despite playing their part in one of the games of the season on Monday, Manchester United will know that their 4-4 draw with Bournemouth was a major chance to pick up three points missed.

This draw saw United fail to win at home for the third consecutive home match. More positively for United is their away form. The travelling side are unbeaten in their last five away games, winning three matches and drawing twice. While they have conceded in each of their last six away games, they have also scored in each match too.

However, they now take on a side that have only lost one of their opening eight home games, with Villa winning six and drawing once. While I back United to continue their run of scoring, I am backing against them securing what would be a statement win.

Verdict

I am backing both sides to find the back of the net as Villa secure their seventh win in nine home matches in the league.
