Barcelona sit above Real Madrid on goal difference in La Liga, with the former not able to give an inch to their arch-rivals despite extending their winning run in La Liga to five games.

Real Sociedad eased to a 3-0 win over Leganes in their last game as they edged closer to the European spots in Spain's top competition.

Barcelona have been excellent of late, taking advantage of Real Madrid winning just one of their last four league games to move to the top of La Liga.

Five consecutive wins began with a stunning 7-1 win against Valencia, while they eased to a 2-0 win over Las Palmas at the weekend. With a +42 goal difference courtesy of a better attacking and defensive record for Barcelona than their arch-rivals, they know that a win in this one would be enough to see them keep their place at the summit.

With three wins in their last three at home, Barca have looked strong. They also have Robert Lewandowski in fine form, with the veteran forward boasting 20 goals in La Liga this season. With four goals across his last five games, he is the man most likely to score in this one.

Real Sociedad Form

Real Sociedad have been inconsistent of late, losing four of their last six and winning the other two in a run that has seen them lose ground on the Champions League spots.

Despite their inconsistent ways, they arrive for this one having beaten their opponents in the reverse of this fixture back in November. A win in this match would be a huge result, and it would be their first victory on the road since beating Leganes back in December, with four away defeats coming since then.

However, hoping to beat Barca and actually beating them in this kind of form are two very different things. Sociedad will have to be at their best to get close to their hosts, but I do not back them to stop Lewandowski from adding his customary goal as he leads his side to victory.
