Bayern Munich are looking to take advantage of any slip-up from leaders Arsenal as they try to bridge a three-point gap that stands between themselves and the summit.

Royale Union SG are still in with a chance of securing a European playoff spot, with their haul of six points meaning they are a point behind Copenhagen in 24th.

Bayern Munich are looking to secure a sixth win in seven Champions League matches this season, with the Bundesliga side currently sitting three points behind Arsenal at the summit.

Their sole loss of the campaign came at the hands of Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Despite losing in London, Bayern could still finish at the summit if they can win their last two matches and Arsenal slip up.

While the prospect of finishing at the summit will be tantalising, Bayern will be fully focussed on notching a spot in the top eight which keeps them clear of the playoffs.

With Bayern scoring an average of three goals per game and their opponents conceding at least three times in five of their last six, I predict a high-scoring game that Bayern storm to victory in. This will ensure they stay clear of a range of teams including Barcelona, who take on Slavia Prague on Wednesday. 

Royale Union SG Form


Royale Union SG are not a side Bayern should take lightly heading into their clash. Two away wins in three attempts is a good record for a side most would have seen as entirely beatable this season.

While they have impressed on the road, they have really let themselves down at home. A pair of 4-0 defeats to Newcastle and Inter Milan on their own patch was followed by a 3-2 defeat against Marseille. If the home side had won any of these three games, they would be far more comfortable in their battle for a playoff spot.

While I predict that the travelling side can give Bayern problems at the back, I do not see them winning this match. The Bundesliga outfit are far too strong, and I predict that Royale Union SG will be left on the cusp of a group-stage elimination.

Verdict

I am backing over 3.5 goals in this match as Bayern storm to three more points in Europe’s premier competition.
