Bodo/Glimt vs Manchester City Preview & Tips
Bodo/Glimt are looking for a statement win over one of the best teams in Europe this week as they desperately try to keep their Champions League playoff hopes alive.
Manchester City can underline their top eight hopes with a fifth win in seven Champions League matches.
- Erling Haaland has scored six goals in the Champions League this season
- City have seem both sides score in two of their last three European matches
Head To Head
This will be the first time the two sides have even met in a competitive football match.
Bodo/Glimt Form
Bodo/Glimt notched an impressive 2-2 draw on the road against Borussia Dortmund in their last European match as they put an end to a three-game losing run.
This draw followed defeats at the hands of Galatasaray, Monaco and Juventus, with this leaving the side languishing on two points. Their draw with Dortmund means they sit on three points, four short of Copenhagen in 24th.
Victory in their seventh outing will likely keep their hopes alive as long as one of the sides sitting on eight points or less fail to win, but it is tough to see the home side beating City. Without a win in any of their seven Champions League games this season, I predict that Bodo/Glimt will slip to another defeat this week.
Manchester City Form
Manchester City arrive for their latest Champions League game on the back of a stunning 2-1 win over Real Madrid that saw the English side bounce back from a shock 2-0 home loss to Bayer Leverkusen in the round before.
Currently sitting in fourth on the ladder with 13 points, City will know they can take little for granted. Liverpool in ninth are a point behind City, while there are a number of sides that could move above or go level with City if Pep Guardiola’s side are to lose. Winning this one is vital.
Erling Haaland continues to terrorise defences in Europe, and I back him to find the back of the net in this one. City have not been great at the back this season, conceding in three of their six European matches. While I do back City to win, I believe they will once again give the opposition opportunities to score.
Verdict
I am backing Erling Haaland to lead City to victory despite the travelling side conceding once again.
