Bournemouth vs Liverpool Preview & Tips

Bournemouth were on the cusp of successive wins in the league last week but conceded a 91st minute stunner to see the points shared in a 1-1 draw with Brighton.

Liverpool’s rough run in the league continued last week as they dropped points at home in a 1-1 draw with Burnley.

  • The Reds have drawn their last four league games
  • Liverpool have drawn three of their last four on the road in the league (W1)

Head To Head

In their last 10 meetings, the Reds have won nine matches, with the Cherries winning once in this time.

Bournemouth Form

Bournemouth are trying to wrestle back some semblance of form this season as they look to build following a terrible run of 11 without a win in the Premier League.

This run was brought to an end with a stunning 3-2 win over Tottenham, and they extended their unbeaten run to two matches by drawing 1-1 on the road against Brighton. Their run of two without defeat in the league has seen them pick up as many points (four) as they had managed in their previous eight.

Having only tasted defeat in one of their last four on their own patch, I predict that the Cherries will hold Liverpool in this one. Their improved run of late has seen them frustrate a number of teams, and I predict they will hand Liverpool another disappointing result.

Liverpool Form

Liverpool have been hugely disappointing this season, with the reigning Premier League champions unable to get anywhere near the levels they hit last term.

Indeed, if most were told the Reds were on a 10-game unbeaten run in the league, they would assume more than half would be wins. However, the Reds have drawn six of their last 10 and, incredibly, they have dropped points against newly promoted sides Sunderland, Burnley and Leeds twice.

This season has been nowhere near good enough for the Reds, and I predict their midweek Champions League outing will add to the slow and insipid performances we have seen from them in the league in another. This will see them lose more ground on the teams above them like Manchester City, who face Wolves at the weekend.

Verdict

I am backing the points to be shared in this one as Liverpool are forced to settle for a fifth consecutive draw in the league.
