Braga vs Nottingham Forest Preview & Tips

Braga arrive for their seventh match in the Europa League looking to tighten their hold on a top eight spot after a strong campaign so far.

Nottingham Forest sit just two points behind Braga in the Europa League table, with the English side able to go above their hosts with a win.

  • Forest are yet to lose away from home in Europe (D2, W1)
  • Braga have not lost either of their last two in the competition (D1, W1)

Head To Head

The pair have met once before, with Forest winning a friendly between the sides back in 2016.

Braga Form

Braga come into their penultimate group game in the Europa League knowing that they can seriously enhance their hopes of snaring a top eight spot by winning for the fifth time in seven games.

Their 1-0 win over Nice in the last round may not have been the prettiest of wins, but it saw Braga grab a vital victory on the road. Indeed, this meant they have picked up four points from their last two after a 1-1 draw with Rangers in Scotland.

With Nottingham Forest the visitors, Braga will meet an opponent that will be tough to breakdown with Sean Dyche at the helm. 14 points from seven matches would be a decent return, and I predict that Braga will have to make do with a draw as they extend their unbeaten run to three matches.

Nottingham Forest Form

Nottingham Forest are still in a strong position in the Europa League standings with 11 points from six games seeing them sit two points behind Porto in eighth and four clear of Dinamo Zagreb in 25th.

Victory in this one would see Forest move onto 14 points, meaning they would leapfrog Braga and edge closer to a top side like Aston Villa, who face Fenerbahce on Thursday. However, winning this match against a solid side is far easier said than done.

On the road, Forest are yet to lose, winning once and drawing twice. Sean Dyche continues to build in the Europa League with a team that has been defensively sound, keeping three clean sheets across their last four. With this in mind, I predict that the points will be shared in this one.

Verdict

I am backing Forest to take a valuable point on the road as they keep their hopes of finishing in the top eight alive.
