Champions League Round Of 16 Best Bets - March 18

Best bets and insight for the second-legs of the Champions League Round of 16 matches to be played on Wednesday, March 18.

Barcelona vs Newcastle

Goals have been the order of the day for both sides when they take to the Champions League. Barcelona have not kept a clean sheet in any of their nine Champions League matches. Meanwhile, Newcastle have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last four in Europe. This alludes to the pair generally putting attack before defence, and I predict this will be true in midweek.

Anthony Gordon is likely to profit from the pair looking to score goals, and I back him to score for the second consecutive game in all competitions, while he also swells his tally of 10 European goals this season.

Liverpool vs Galatasaray

Liverpool are in need of a big performance on Wednesday after their 1-0 loss to Galatasaray last week. The travelling side arrive with a one-goal advantage, but they will remember all too well that they let a three-goal lead in the last round against Juventus disappear. The first goal in this match is vital as it will either see the teams draw level or Galatasaray move two clear. I am backing the Reds to hit the back of the net first as they get back level.

Tottenham vs Atletico Madrid

Tottenham are on the cusp of an early exit from the Champions League despite finishing in the top eight in the league phase. Spurs are winless in their last eight in all competitions, losing six times and drawing twice. Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid have won their last two in Europe and their last three in all competitions. While Spurs have been strong at home in Europe, I predict that they will slip to a defeat at the hands of a far better opponent.
