Chelsea vs Barcelona Preview & Tips

Chelsea were held to a frustrating draw by Qarabag in their last Champions League match as they dropped points on the road in a 2-2 draw.

Barcelona were also held in their last European game by Club Brugge as the pair battled in a 3-3 stalemate.

Head To Head

The pair have drawn five of their last 10 meetings, with Chelsea winning four times and Barcelona winning once.

Chelsea Form

Chelsea could not make the most out of going ahead against Qarabag in their last European match as they had to come from 2-1 down to secure a point.

While this did extend their unbeaten run in Europe to three matches, it will worry the Blues that they have only kept one clean sheet in their opening four, conceding twice and drawing with a Qarabag side they should have beaten.

Positively for Chelsea, their home form has been excellent. The Blues have played and beaten Benfica (1-0) and Ajax (5-1) at Stamford Bridge, and they will be confident that they can avoid defeat in this one. However, I do not back them to win this match as they grind to consecutive European draws.

Barcelona Form

Barcelona have been fairly good across their Champions League outings, with their only loss coming in a 2-1 defeat to reigning champions PSG in game two.

Away from this loss, they have beaten Newcastle (2-1) and Olympiacos (6-1), with their last outing seeing the Spanish side share the points with Club Brugge in a 3-3 draw.

Barcelona had to come back from 1-0 down, 2-1 down and 3-2 down last time out, with the win eventually proving too far above them. A point on the road is not something to be sniffed at, and I predict that Barcelona will have to settle for a draw once again.
