Chelsea are looking to bounce back from a frustrating 2-1 loss to Atalanta in their last Champions League match as they saw their hopes of notching a top eight spot take a blow.

Pafos need to secure an unlikely win over Chelsea as they look to force their way into the top 24 spots in the competition.

This will be the first time the two sides have met in a competitive football match.

Chelsea Form


Chelsea will have been hugely frustrated with their Champions League campaign so far, with the English side sitting on 10 points, two short of Atletico Madrid in eighth.

While the Blues are right behind the spots that will grant them an automatic place in the next round, they have a huge battle on their hands if they are to usurp the sides above them. Victory against Pafos is a non-negotiable if the Blues are to climb the standings and edge closer to a side like Liverpool, who face Marseille in midweek. 

The Blues have kept clean sheets in two of their three European home games, with their last outing at Stamford Bridge seeing them hammer Barcelona 3-0. With Chelsea looking to avoid an awkward playoff spot in the competition, I back them to come out swinging in this one as they secure a win with a clean sheet.

Pafos Form


Pafos slipped to a 2-0 loss at the hands of Juventus in their last Champions League match as they made it two without a win in the tournament.

With six points coming from their six games, Pafos are a point short of Copenhagen in 24th. Victory would likely see Pafos storm up the table as they chase a playoff berth.

However, the travelling side have had real issues on the road this year. Without a win in three away games, Pafos are yet to score a goal in a run that has seriously hurt their chances of moving into the next round. 

Verdict

I am backing the Blues to secure a win to nil as they give their hopes of securing an automatic place in the next round a shot in the arm.
