England vs Wales Preview & Tips
England are eyeing a third consecutive win since their 3-1 loss to Senegal back in June.
Wales are looking to bounce back from a 1-0 loss to Canada that saw them slip to defeat at home.
- England have won to nil in their last two against Wales
- Harry Kane has scored in his last seven for club and country
Head To Head
England have won nine of their last 10 against Wales, with the other meeting ending as a draw.
England Form
England finally seemed to click into gear under Thomas Tuchel, with their 5-0 win over Serbia seeing them strengthen their position in their World Cup qualifying group.
With the exception of their 3-1 loss to Senegal back in June, England have been fairly good. Wins over Albania, Latvia, Andorra twice and Serbia have seen the English come out with an aggregate score of 13-0. While they have not been hammering teams, they have been rock solid at the back.
I back England's exceptional ability to keep clean sheets to continue in this one as they shut Wales out. Harry Kane has been in sublime form in front of goal this season, and he arrives for this one with goals in his last seven for club and country. I back him to extend his excellent scoring run as England ease to a 13th win in 14 against Wales.
Wales Form
Wales have been tough to beat of late, with the side marrying up a fairly solid defence with an attack that is hitting the back of the net.
Across their last six, Wales have scored in all bar one of their games. They have also kept two clean sheets, while they have only conceded one goal in three of the other four games.
The big worry for Wales will be that when they played against a top tier nation in Belgium, they were beaten 4-3. While Wales will relish the chance to go up against England, 12 defeats and a draw in their 13 meetings shows they have not been on the same level as their opponents. I back the Welsh to slip to a frustrating loss in this one.
Verdict
I am backing Harry Kane to lead England to a win and a clean sheet as the English continue to build towards the World Cup in 2026.
