Brentford vs Manchester City Preview & Tips
Brentford have battled hard this season, with the side looking fairly good despite losing a number of key members of staff across the summer.
Manchester City had to bide their time against Burnley in their last league game before eventually sparking into life in a 5-1 win over their opponents.
- Brentford have held Chelsea and beaten Manchester United in their last two home games in the league
- City have failed to win either of their last two on the road in the league (D1, L1)
- Erling Haaland has scored in his last eight matches for club and country
Head To Head
City have won five of their last 10 against Brentford, with the latter winning four times and one game ending as a draw.
Brentford Form
Despite losing a number of big names across the summer transfer window, Brentford have proved they are still more than a match for a range of well-established Premier League sides.
Indeed, wins over Aston Villa and Manchester United have come alongside a draw with Chelsea. Their seven point tally means they are three clear of Burnley in 18th, while they are only three short of Manchester City in seventh.
Brentford’s 2-2 draw with City last season will give them a lot of confidence heading into this one, while their recent 3-1 win over Manchester United was a deserved victory. I back the home side to give City all kinds of issues as they extend their inconsistent away form in the league.
Manchester City Form
Manchester City have been solid of late, but their early season form shows that they are far from unbeatable.
A 2-0 home loss to Tottenham was quickly followed by a 2-1 loss to Brighton on the road. While they did bounce back with a 3-0 win over Manchester United, they were then held by Arsenal in a 1-1 draw away from home.
When things are going right for City, they are unplayable. However, if Brentford can get under their skin, they can give the former champions real problems. I back City to struggle despite Erling Haaland making it goals in his last eight in all competitions.
Verdict
I am backing Haaland to hit the back of the net as Brentford find a way to cancel out his goal and take a point from City.
