Liverpool were far too good for West Ham in their last EFL Cup match as hey hammered their opponents 5-1.

Head To Head

Liverpool have won three of their last 10 against Brighton, with Brighton winning three times and the other four ending in draws.

Brighton Form

Brighton have been enjoying a good run of form in recent weeks, going unbeaten across their last three league games.

Wins over Tottenham and Newcastle were followed by a draw with Wolves on their own patch. Their inability to defeat a Wolves side that are winless across their nine matches was telling. Brighton have now failed to win in three of their five home games in the league this year. While they are not losing at home right now, they have not been winning consistently.

With a Liverpool side in fine form to come, I am backing Brighton to slip to a defeat in the cup despite breaching Liverpool's defence.

Liverpool Form

Liverpool needed a late goal from Mohamed Salah to extend their unbeaten run at the weekend as they took a point from Arsenal in the Premier League.

While this did extend their unbeaten streak to nine matches, it ended an impressive eight-game winning run. The Reds are still battling for a range of trophies after moving to the top of the Premier League and winning all three of their Champions League games. With only four wins standing between the Reds and the EFL Cup, Liverpool will be confident they can be the last side left standing this year.

The Reds are unlikely to have it all their own way in this clash, but I am backing them to extend their unbeaten run by notching a ninth win in 10 games.

Verdict

I am backing the Reds to secure the win in this one as they beat Brighton despite failing to keep a clean sheet.
