Chelsea vs Liverpool Preview & Tips
Chelsea finally got back to winning ways with a battling 1-0 win over Benfica in their Champions League game in midweek.
Liverpool were not good enough against Galatasaray in midweek as they slipped to a second defeat in as many matches.
- The Blues have seen both teams score in their last three league games
- Liverpool have seen both sides hit the back of the net in their last two league matches
- Chelsea beat Liverpool 3-1 in their last meeting in May
Head To Head
In their last 10 meetings, Chelsea have secured one win, Liverpool have won five times and four games have ended as draws.
Chelsea Form
Chelsea have struggled for consistency this season, with the Blues currently sitting in eighth in the league with eight points from a possible 18.
The form book shows they have won twice, lost twice and drawn twice, with their inability to consistently beat opponents costing them. They have also found keeping 11 players on the pitch difficult, with three of their last four in all competitions seeing them pick up a red card.
Despite their woes, Chelsea know they have a big chance to put the boot in on old rivals Liverpool this weekend. The reigning champions have lost their last two in all competitions, and neither has been great at the back either.
Backing Chelsea outright is brave considering their recent record against Liverpool, so I am instead backing them in the double chance market along with a draw, with Chelsea/Draw making up five of the last 10 results.
Liverpool Form
Liverpool have not been good enough of late, with their injury issues coupled with some poor performances at the back and in midfield proving their undoing.
Despite dominating statistically, Liverpool huffed and puffed against Galatasaray, with the side unable to make any of their 16 shots count. They deserved to lose their midweek outing in a truly insipid performance.
Now, they face a Chelsea side that have been very inconsistent. The Blues will look to push their opponents all the way, and I back them to give the reigning champions some real issues as the travelling side concede once again.
Verdict
I am backing Chelsea/Draw in the Double Chance market as both sides fail to keep a clean sheet once again.
