Leicester return to the Premier League looking to prove that they can still battle with the best as they take on Tottenham in their opening match.

Despite notching 31 wins in 46 games in the Championship last year, the Foxes know that the level of opponent drastically increases this term. The champions of the Championship will more than likely become embroiled in a relegation battle this term with their likely target simply survival.

While a win in their opening game is not outside of the realms of possibility as they play at home, it is tough to see them matching the level of an opponent that will have top-four aspirations this year.

Tottenham will have been hugely disappointed to have missed out on a Champions League spot for the upcoming season, but they only have themselves to blame after they lost five of their final seven in the league.

A pair of defeats to Bayern Munich saw them lose 2-1 and 3-2, with both defeats coming in the space of a week. Despite this, Spurs will look at these losses as valuable experience against a top-quality opponent.

With an impressive 6-2 win coming against Leicester when the two met back in 2022, Tottenham will fancy themselves as they look to take all three points from their newly-promoted hosts.

I am backing Leicester to get on the scoresheet as they mark their return to the Premier League with a goal, although I cannot see them winning.
