Liverpool eased to a 2-0 win over Ipswich in their opening game as they took all three points from the newly-promoted side.

The pair have met six times in total, with Liverpool winning four times, Brentford winning once and the other game ending as a draw.

Liverpool had to ride out some awkward moments in the opening exchanges of their clash with Ipswich last week before they eventually secured a 2-0 win via goals from Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah around the hour mark.

This was their sixth win in their last seven in all competitions, with the Reds looking to utilise the momentum that have built in preseason. With a long and arduous season to come as Liverpool look to challenge in four competitions, winning matches at home against sides that struggled last season is vital.

Mohamed Salah began the season with a well-taken goal against Ipswich, and he will once again be an outlet in attack for Liverpool as they look to take advantage of a side that conceded 65 goals last season.

Brentford Form

Despite seeing slightly less of the ball and creating less chances than Crystal Palace, Brentford managed to take all three points from their clash on the opening day as they ran out 2-1 winners.

Their win ended a run of four without a win, with the side trundling to three draws and a defeat in preseason. While preseason matches do not usually have much of a bearing on competitive matches, a win to end this run was important.

While the away side arrives on the back of a win, they will have to find a way to take points from Liverpool at Anfield for the first time, with the Reds winning all three of their matches against Brentford when they have hosted their opponents.
