Liverpool vs Manchester United Preview & Tips
Liverpool need to dig deep this week as they look to end a run of three consecutive defeats in all competitions.
Manchester United secured a morale-boosting 2-0 win over Sunderland in their last match as they headed into the international break on the back of victory.
- Liverpool and Manchester United have seen both teams score in their last three league games
- Liverpool have won all three of their home games in the league
- United are yet to win on the road in the league (D1, L2)
Head To Head
Liverpool have won four of their last 10 against their opponents, with United winning three times and three ending as draws.
Liverpool Form
Liverpool have struggled of late, with their defensive fragility costing them points in each of their last three matches in all competitions.
The Reds have not kept a clean sheet since they ground out a 1-0 win over Burnley back in mid-September. Since then, the Reds have conceded in each of their six games. The first three in this run saw Liverpool's forwards cover for their defence, but their last three matches have seen defensive lapses cost them.
I back their inability to keep clean sheets to come into play as they concede in this one, but I do not believe they will drop points against an opponent that is yet to win on the road in the league this season.
Manchester United Form
Manchester United's 2-0 win over Sunderland was a much-needed one, but was victory over a newly-promoted opponent at home one that will signal a turning in their fortunes?
Sunderland have impressed this season, but they are hardly unbeatable. Victory at Old Trafford should be one that is expected against most sides, but this United side have been defying expectations in the wrong way for years.
While they have won three of their last five, all of these wins have been at home. Indeed, three consecutive defeats on the road in all competitions means I am backing against them stunning the reigning champions.
Verdict
I am backing both sides to fail to keep a clean sheet once again as Liverpool take all three points.
