Manchester United's poor start to the season was extended in their last game as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Aston Villa.

The pair have met a total of seven times, with United winning four meetings, Brentford winning once and the other two games ending as draws.

Manchester United have averaged out at just over a point a game this season, with their opening seven matches resulting in the side picking up eight points.

Incredibly, United are only five points clear of the relegation zone, meaning they are closer to the bottom three than they are to Chelsea in fourth. Three home matches have result in a single win and two defeats, with 3-0 hammerings at the hands of Liverpool and Tottenham showing United just how far away from the top sides they currently are.

While Manchester United have secured four wins in seven previous meetings with Brentford, their last match ended in a draw. While I back the home side to avoid defeat, I do not believe they will come away with all three points.

Brentford Form

Brentford have enjoyed a better run of form of late, going unbeaten in their last two matches and securing four points.

A 1-1 draw with West Ham was followed by a 5-3 win over Wolves. Their four point haul has been enough to see them move two points clear of their next opponents, and they will have serious aspirations of avoiding defeat at Old Trafford this week.

United have been disappointing this term, but I do not believe they will slip to a new low and lose to a side that are winless on the road this term. Despite this, I predict that Brentford will take something from this match as they frustrate their hosts for the second consecutive time.
