Manchester United vs Brighton Preview & Tips

Manchester United are looking to continue an impressive run of form that has seen Ruben Amorim’s side move onto 13 points, meaning they are two short of Bournemouth in fourth.

Brighton sit a single point behind Manchester United after a solid start to the season in which they have lost just two of their opening eight.

  • United have won their last two and their last three at home
  • Brighton have been beaten in two of their four away games (W1, D1)

Head to Head

Brighton have won six of their last 10 against United, with the latter winning the other four.

Manchester United Form

Manchester United have managed to embark on a promising run that has seen their woeful start to the season end with the side moving into the top-half of the table.

Their 2-1 win over Liverpool saw United profit from Liverpool’s poor run of form, with this making it two consecutive wins in the league. United also boast three consecutive wins at home in the league after beating Burnley (3-2), Chelsea (2-1) and Sunderland (2-0).

The focus for United has to be on building on their excellent recent run, but there will be worries that their shaky defence could cost them again having kept a single clean sheet across the league season.

Despite their woes at the start of the campaign, I am backing the home side to make it four consecutive wins at home in the league as they start to show they are not a spent force in the competition.

Brighton Form

Brighton arrive for their clash with Manchester United hoping to extend a run of four without defeat in the league. Draws with Tottenham and Wolves have come alongside impressive wins over Chelsea and Newcastle, with both victories coming over sides hoping to battle for top-four spots this year.

The worry for Brighton will be that they have lost two of their four on the road this year. Admittedly, these defeats came in their first two away from home, but there are clearly some issues when it comes to playing on the road.

While I predict a tight match as Brighton give United problems once again, the three-game winning run at Old Trafford that the home team boasts is one I back them to extend.

Verdict

I am backing United to notch a statement win as they make it four consecutive victories at Old Trafford in the league.
