- Arsenal Form
Arsenal eased to a 3-0 win over Preston in the EFL Cup as they bounced back from dropping points against Liverpool at the weekend.
- Newcastle are unbeaten in their last three home meetings against Arsenal at St James' Park in 90 minutes
- The Magpies have only lost once at home in the league (W2, D1)
- Arsenal lost their last away game in the league against Bournemouth
Head To Head
Newcastle have won two of their last 10 against Arsenal, with the Gunners winning six matches and the other two ending as draws after 90 minutes.
Newcastle Form
Newcastle had trundled to one draw and two defeats heading into their clash with Chelsea at St James' Park, with the Magpies struggling for wins.
However, they took the lead against Chelsea in the first-half and did not ever look back as they secured a 2-0 win. This triumph means the Magpies are one step closer to securing a trophy this season, while they avenged their 2-1 loss to Chelsea in the league at the weekend.
While the Magpies have not been perfect this season, I predict that their win over Chelsea in midweek will see their confidence renewed as they take on an opponent that has not won either of their last two in the league. Newcastle's current form is a worry, and that is why I am backing them in the double chance market along with the draw.
Arsenal Form
Arsenal made it three without a defeat in midweek as they beat Preston 3-0 to move into the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup.
Their win helped them to bounce back from their stunning 2-0 loss to Bournemouth in their last game away from home. The challenge for the Gunners will be to turn one away win into two as they head to St James' Park.
However, with players still missing from their first XI and Newcastle really impressing against Chelsea in the week, I am backing the travelling side to struggle.
Verdict
I am backing Newcastle-Draw in the double chance market as the Magpies put another dent in Arsenal's title challenge.
