Wolves vs Chelsea Tips

Chelsea were not nearly good enough against Manchester City in their opening match as they were also beaten 2-0.

  • Wolves have not won either of their last two matches
  • Chelsea have drawn one of their last three games
  • Three of the last seven meetings between the sides have ended in draws.

Head To Head

Wolves have won four of their last 10 against Chelsea, with the Blues securing three wins and three games ending as draws.

Wolves Form

Wolves struggled to match Arsenal in their opening match of the new season, with Wanderers unable to carve out and score from any chance on the day.

While they did enjoy near-parity with regard to possession, the Gunners took 18 total shots and should have had more goals. This week, Wolves need to find a way to be better at the back while creating more clear-cut opportunities.

While the Blues did win their Europa Conference League play-off in midweek, they look brittle at the back, and Wolves will fancy their chances of picking up points against a team they have not lost against in any of their last three meetings.

Chelsea Form

Chelsea got their first win of the new campaign in midweek as they beat Servette 2-0 in the first-leg of their Europa Conference League play-off match.

The win was all that mattered for the side following their defeat at the hands of Manchester City, but they were hardly convincing. Indeed, they missed a number of chances up-front, while Servette did manage to create some opportunities too.

While Enzo Maresca did choose to rotate his side for the midweek match, I cannot see their supposed first team playing any better if he reverts back to his starting XI from last weekend. With this in mind, a draw on the road would be a positive result and make it two without defeat. While the fans will be baying for a first win of the new league season, it is likely they will have to settle for a point.

Verdict

I am backing the Blues to take a point from their trip to Molineux as they get off the mark in the Premier League.
