Europa League Round Of 16 Best Bets - March 19
Best bets for the second-legs of the Europa League Round of 16 matches to be played on Thursday, March 19.
Midtjylland vs Nottingham Forest
Midtjylland have secured wins in their only two previous matches against Nottingham Forest, with both victories coming on the road. The major worry for Forest will be that their opponents have won all four of their home games in Europe, while they have won seven of their nine in the competition.
For Forest, this is a tough task. They have now lost their last two matches in the Europa League, although both came at home. On the road, Forest have won twice, drawn once and lost once. While they are not out of the tie, losing their two previous matches against their opponents means they will be low on confidence, and I predict that they will slip to a defeat in midweek.
Aston Villa vs Lille
Aston Villa did a lot of the hard work in the first-leg of their clash with Lille as they notched a battling 1-0 win over their opponents in France. This was their sixth consecutive win in Europe, and they return to Villa Park where they have won all four of their previous Europa League outings.
Lille's stay in the Europa League is under serious threat after their loss in the first-leg. On the road, Lille have won twice and lost three matches, while they have won three of their last nine, losing the other six. The travelling side will almost certainly put up a real fight as they try to put Villa under pressure, but I back the home side to get the job done and move into the quarter-finals.
Verdict
I am backing Nottingham Forest to slip to a frustrating loss on the road as Aston Villa continue their impressive Europa League campaign.
