FC Koln vs Bayern Munich Preview & Tips
FC Koln took a point from Heidenheim in their last game to end a two-game losing streak but, worrying for the side, this failed to end a winless run that now stands at seven matches.
Bayern Munich obliterated Wolfsburg at the weekend in a stunning 8-1 win that saw them get back to league duty in style.
- Bayern have seen four goals or more scored in each of their last seven matches
- FC Koln have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last 10 matches
Head To Head
Bayern Munich have won eight of their last 10 matches against their opponents, with Koln winning once and one game ending as a draw.
FC Koln Form
Starting the new year, FC Koln will be hugely worried about their current trajectory, with just four wins coming from their opening 16 matches.
While they sit in 11th in the standings, they are only five points clear of St Pauli in 16th. Their seven-game winless run, which features four defeats and three draws, means they have lost all of the momentum their promising start had provided them with.
Their return to the football pitch did result in a point on the road against Heidenheim, but it should be noted that Heidenheim sit in 17th, meaning this was a game Koln would have targeted as entirely winnable.
With the best side in the country and one of the best sides in Europe providing FC Koln’s next opponent, I predict that this one will end in a heavy defeat for the home side.
Bayern Munich Form
Bayern Munich have been outstanding this season, and it would take a brave bettor to wager against them securing the Bundesliga title this term.
14 wins and two draws in 16 matches means their hopes of going the entire season unbeaten in the league are still alive, while they have scored 63 times and conceded just 12 goals. Clearly, their quality is not confined to one area of the pitch.
On the back of an 8-1 win over Wolfsburg that means they have scored three or more goals in seven of their last nine league games, I predict another big win for the travelling side.
Verdict
I am backing Bayern to romp to three points as they easily beat an opponent that will know there are far more winnable games to come.
