France are looking to bounce back from their heartbreaking semi-final loss to Spain at Euro 2024, with the eventual winners eliminating the French.

Italy were humbled by Switzerland at Euro 2024, with their 2-0 defeat seeing them slump to an embarrassing exit.

France have won seven of their last 10 against Italy, with the Italians winning twice and one game ending as a draw.

France Form

It was not a tournament to remember for France at Euro 2024, with the nation limping to the semi-finals, only to be beaten by Spain, and rightly so.

The French struggled to implement their attacking plan across the tournament, and while they were very solid at the back, they were poor in front of goal. Now, they will look to prove that they can cut the best opponents apart, with Italy a side that they have been good against of late.

France may have struggled for form at Euro 2024, but I am predicting that a new tournament will bring renewed fortunes. With the likes of Kylian Mbappe available to head up their attack, I am backing goals in this one.

Italy Form

Italy were not good enough at Euro 2024 as they trundled to a single win, draw and loss in the group-stage of the competition.

They were then beaten by Switzerland in the Round of 16 as their opponents completely outplayed them. Italy's issues at both ends of the pitch have culminated in too many insipid performances, and a trip to face a French side looking to get back to winning ways is hardly ideal.

While I do predict that the Italians will get on the scoresheet, I do not see them ending a run of three defeats at the hands of their opponents.

I am backing France to get their Nations League campaign off to a winning start. While I do back the Italians to get a goal, I believe their poor run of form will continue.
