Italy have stormed to the top of a tough group in the Nations League after winning their opening two games.

Belgium were beaten 2-0 by France in their last match as they slipped to their first defeat in the Nations League.

Italy have been excellent at the start of the new Nations League campaign, winning their opening two matches and moving to the summit.

While their work is far from done, two away wins over France and Israel away were very impressive results, especially when considering they came into those matches on the back of a disappointing Euro 2024 campaign.

Victory in this one would deal a hammer blow to Belgium's hopes of topping the group, while it could see Italy move further clear if France fail to beat Belgium. With a 2-1 win over Israel in their last match and a pair of 2-1 wins over Belgium in their last two meetings, I am backing the home side to ease to a third consecutive win.

Belgium were left frustrated in their last clash with France as they failed to make seeing more of the ball count as they slipped to a 2-0 loss.

For France, 46% of the ball saw them take 25 shots, while 54% possession for Belgium saw them shoot just nine times. This was another lesson in possession not always allowing a side to win a game, with Belgium simply not good enough at carving out chances.

With a single win in 90 minutes across their last four in all competitions, Belgium hardly arrive in sparkling form. With their poor run in mind, I am backing the away side to slip to a second successive loss as their hopes of topping the group take a hammer blow.
