Latvia vs England Preview & Tips

Latvia arrive still hunting a playoff spot, with the side hoping to secure the greatest result in their history this week.

England can secure their place at the 2026 World Cup with a win that would stretch their winning run in qualifying to six games.

The sides have only met once before, with England running out as the 3-0 winner back in March.

Latvia may still be in the hunt for a World Cup playoff spot, but they were left stunned by Andorra as the latter came from 2-1 down to secure a draw, which was their first point of the campaign.

While their draw with Andorra did end a two-game losing run in qualifying, they will feel like it was two points dropped against a side that were pointless from their first five.

While Latvia are still in the equation for a top two spot, they will likely lose more ground on those above them as they slip to another defeat without scoring against England.

England Form

England have been strong without ever really exploding into life across their first qualifying campaign under Thomas Tuchel.

A 13-0 aggregate score across their opening five is a decent record, but this was swelled by an impressive 5-0 win over Serbia on the road. This performance saw England play some excellent attacking football whilst still maintaining their impressive clean sheet record.

Their opening match of the international break saw England beat Wales 3-0 after a 20-minute salvo accounted for the Welsh. I back England to once again easily beat an opponent as they secure their place at the World Cup in 2026.
