Liverpool vs Burnley Preview & Tips
Liverpool stretched their unbeaten run to 11 matches in all competitions, with their 4-1 win over Burnley in the FA Cup on Monday ending a run of three consecutive draws.
Burnley are winless in their last 12 league games, with their 2-2 draw against Manchester United seeing them slip eight-points short of Nottingham Forest in 17th.
- The Reds are unbeaten in their last four at home in the league (W2, D2)
- Burnley have failed to score in five of their last six matches against Liverpool
Head To Head
Liverpool have won eight of their last 10 against Burnley, with the latter winning once and one game ending as a draw.
Liverpool Form
Liverpool are looking to cut the gap between themselves and the top sides in the Premier League, with the reigning champions currently eight points below second placed Manchester City, who travel to face Manchester United at the weekend.
Despite their wobbly start to the 2025/26 season, the Reds have managed to win 10 of their 21 matches, while they are unbeaten in their last 11 in all competitions, winning six times. Their 4-1 win over Barnsley may not have been perfect, but they got the job done as they moved into the next round of the FA Cup.
Now back to league action, the Reds will target their floundering opponents as the perfect side to extend their unbeaten run against as they notch a third clean sheet in five in all competitions. I back the home side to give Anfield more cause for celebration as they win again.
Burnley Form
Burnley are quickly losing ground on those above them, with the newly-promoted side already eight points short of Nottingham Forest and safety.
Their run of 12 without a win in all competitions means they have not won a game since beating Wolves 3-2 back on October 26. In this time, they have lost nine of their 12 outings, while they have now lost eight of their 10 on the road in the league.
While Liverpool have not been great at the back this season, I predict that they will keep a clean sheet against an opponent that has only scored 22 goals in 21 league games.
Verdict
I am backing the Reds to secure a win to nil as they extend their unbeaten run.
