Liverpool vs West Ham Preview & Tips

Liverpool just about squeezed past Nottingham Forest in their last game as they edged to another 1-0 win in the league.

West Ham held Bournemouth in a 0-0 draw last time out as they stretched their unbeaten run to three matches.

  • Liverpool have won 1-0 in their last two matches
  • West Ham have seen less than 2.5 goals scored in their last three games

Head To Head

Liverpool have won nine of their last 10 against West Ham, with the Hammers winning once in this time.

Liverpool Form

Liverpool have not been the swashbuckling side we became used to seeing last year, but they have rekindled their ability to edge to wins of late, with a pair of 1-0 triumphs coming over Sunderland and Nottingham Forest.

Both victories came on the road, with the Reds previously winning just four of their 12 away from home. While the Reds have been far from perfect this season, they are still in the hunt for a top four spot and Champions League football next year.

With the likes of Chelsea and Aston Villa wobbling of late, Liverpool will target another win over relegation threatened West Ham as the perfect way to pile the pressure on those above them.

The Reds have secured wins with less than 2.5 goals scored in their last two, and I predict more of the same in this one as the home side grind to a third consecutive win.

West Ham Form

West Ham are unbeaten in their last three league games after beating Burnley and taking a point from both Manchester United and Bournemouth.

The five points they have secured from their last three means the Hammers have edged closer to Nottingham Forest and Tottenham in the standings, while they are now six points clear of 19th-placed Burnley, with West Ham hoping to leave the bottom two behind.

However, West Ham have really struggled away from home this season, losing six of their 13 and winning just three matches. With nine defeats coming in their last 10 against the Reds, I do not see the travelling side extending their unbeaten run in a tight defeat.

Verdict

I am backing a low-scoring game as Liverpool pile the pressure on the sides around them in the hunt for a Champions League spot.
