Manchester City vs Bayer Leverkusen Preview & Tips

Manchester City are yet to lose in Europe this season, winning three of their opening four and drawing once.

Bayer Leverkusen edged to a 1-0 win over Benfica in their last European game as they finally took three points from a Champions League opponent.

This will be the first time the two sides have met in a competitive football match.

Manchester City Form

Manchester City arrive for their fifth European game of the season chasing a fourth win as they try to solidify their place in the top spots in the competition.

City’s last outing saw them easily beat Borussia Dortmund 4-1 in a supreme performance that saw them go 3-0 up. Erling Haaland scored once while Phil Foden secured a brace in an excellent attacking display for the English side.

With 10 goals scored and just three conceded, City have looked good at both ends of the pitch. Two of the three goals they have conceded came in their 2-2 draw with Monaco, with two of their four matches seeing them keep a clean sheet.

With Erling Haaland in stunning form right now, I back him to lead City to a win. Leverkusen may have scored in each of their European matches so far, but I believe they will have so much trouble dealing with Erling Haaland that they will struggle to breach their hosts.

Bayer Leverkusen Form

Bayer Leverkusen have managed to avoid defeat in three of their last four Champions League matches, but they are yet to really catch fire in the competition.

Their 1-0 win over Benfica in game four accounts for the majority of their five points, with draws against Copenhagen and PSV accounting for the other two. The one major worry was their humbling 7-2 home loss to PSG in game three, with the German side completely played off the park.

In their clash with PSG, they actually dragged themselves level after going 1-0 down early on. However, they lost the first-half 4-1 before then losing the second-half 3-1. Ultimately, they were undone by a lack of bite up front, while their defence was swamped by a vastly superior opposition.

I predict more of the same in this one as the German side are handed another loss.

I am backing Erling Haaland to score yet again as City secure another win with a two-goal margin.
