Manchester City vs Leeds Preview & Tips
Manchester City are looking to get back to winning ways in the league after they were stunned by Newcastle in a 2-1 loss.
Leeds were beaten by Aston Villa in their last league game as they slipped into the relegation zone following their 2-1 loss.
- City have won their last five home games in the league
- Leeds have lost five of their six away games this season (W1)
- Erling Haaland has 14 Premier League goals this season
Head To Head
City have won six of their last 10 against Leeds, with the latter winning twice and two games ending as draws.
Manchester City Form
Manchester City may arrive for this one with the second-best home record in the league, but they are in need of a big result after two poor performances across competitions.
Their 2-1 defeat at the hands of Newcastle in the league at the weekend saw them slip seven points short of Arsenal at the summit. They were then handed a humbling 2-0 defeat at home against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League. Pep Guardiola chose to rotate his squad for their midweek match, and it backfired as they were beaten.
This weekend, City have to win. Three consecutive defeats across competitions would suddenly see their good start to the season turn, while it could see them slip 10 points short of Arsenal at the summit. Erling Haaland will be raring to go after failing to score across his last two matches, and I back him to lead a big City fightback as they storm to the win.
Leeds Form
Leeds have struggled massively in recent weeks, with their own good start to the season making way for a run that has seen them slip into the relegation places.
The start of the season saw Leeds win two of their opening six, drawing twice and losing twice. With eight points coming from a possible 18, Leeds were in good shape. However, they have since won one of their last six, losing the other six games. This means Leeds sit in 18th in the standings. While there is still a lot of the season to come, Leeds cannot afford to allow this slump to continue to get worse.
While Leeds take on a City side currently enduring a small speedbump in their season, I do not back them to come away with anything from this one. Five defeats in six on the road shows they have not been good enough away from home, and I predict their record will only get worse this week.
Verdict
I am backing City to win this one easily as they hand Leeds an eighth defeat of the season. I also back Erling Haaland to end his two-game scoreless run.
