Manchester City vs Wolves Preview & Tips
Manchester City are in desperate need of a morale-boosting win against Wolves this weekend after a torrid week has seen them lose to both Manchester United and Bodo/Glimt.
Wolves continue to impress of late, with the six points they have secured in their last four accounting for a huge portion of their total of eight points.
- City have seen both sides score in four of their last six in all competitions
- Wolves have hit the back of the net in four of their last five
Head To Head
In their last 10 meetings, City have won nine times with Wolves winning once in this time.
Manchester City Form
Across competitions, Manchester City have hit a very worrying run of form that has seen them slip seven points short of Arsenal in the Premier League before having to stomach a chastening 3-1 loss to Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League.
While they are still on the hunt for four trophies this season, they have to return to winning ways in the league if they are to have any hopes of catching Arsenal. With their eighth and final Champions League group game to come next week, notching a win at the weekend is crucial going forward.
While I predict that City will continue their worrying run of conceding, I do not see them losing to Wolves, The home side have won eight of their 11 on their own patch and they will be supremely confident that they can return to winning ways this weekend as they battle to catch Arsenal, who take on Manchester United this weekend.
Wolves Form
Wolves’ upturn in form has been very impressive of late. They have ground to their total of eight points on the back of one win and five draws, with their victory and three of their draws coming across their last four outings.
Impressively, they have taken points on the road against Manchester United and Everton, while they held Newcastle in a 0-0 draw last week. Their win came in a superb 3-0 dispatching of West Ham, with this seeing Wolves rekindle some kind of form.
While they will arrive at the Etihad Stadium unbeaten in their last four, they will have to up their game again if they are to take anything from this match. While I do back them to find the back of the net against their leaky hosts, I cannot see them securing the win in this one as they see their unbeaten run brought to an end.
Verdict
I am backing City to secure all three points in this one despite once again failing to keep a clean sheet.
