Manchester United vs Bournemouth Preview & Tips

Manchester United are looking to extend their unbeaten run to four matches after their comfortable 4-1 win over Wolves last week.

Bournemouth have really struggled in recent weeks, with the side slipping down to 13th in the competition.

  • Manchester United have won four of their seven home games (L2, D1)
  • Bournemouth have lost four of their seven on the road including their last three
  • The last two matches involving the sides have seen both teams score

Head To Head

Manchester United have won five of their last 10 against Bournemouth, with the Cherries winning three times and two games ending as draws.

Manchester United Form

There may still be a number of questions hanging over this Manchester United team right now, but their resolve has been impressive of late, with the side dragging themselves up to sixth in the table despite failing to ever really catch fire.

Seven wins, four draws and four defeats has seen United pick up 25 points, meaning they are a point behind Crystal Palace in fourth. Incredibly, despite Arsenal’s excellent start, the league leaders are only eight points clear of a United side that have been much-maligned this season.

Their last three games have seen United beat Crystal Palace and Wolves, with their other game ending in a 1-1 draw with West Ham. Bournemouth arrive in awful form, and if United have serious aspirations of finishing in the top four this season, this is a contest they simply have to win.

Bournemouth Form

Bournemouth’s form has fallen off a cliff of late, with the side sliding down the table after failing to win any of their last six games.

Their six-game winless run has seen the Cherries lose to Manchester City, Aston Villa, Sunderland and Everton, while they have shared the points with West Ham and Chelsea. Incredibly, their last six matches has seen Bournemouth add just two points to their total, with their first nine matches accounting for 18 of their 20 points.

Away games have been an issue of late, with the Cherries losing their last three. While they have managed to score at least once in six of their seven on the road, their form is worrying, and I am backing against them this week.

Verdict

I am backing Manchester United to secure another statement win as they continue to build on a positive run across December.
