Nottingham Forest vs Malmo Preview & Tips
Nottingham Forest are looking to build on the point they picked up on the road against Sturm Graz in the last round as they extended their unbeaten run in Europe to two matches.
Malmo were beaten 1-0 by Panathinaikos in their last Europa League match as their wait for a win in the competition went on.
- Forest are unbeaten in their last two in Europe (W1, D1)
- Malmo have lost three of their four in the competition (D1)
- Both sides have seen under 2.5 goals scored in their last two European games
Head To Head
The pair have met three times in total, with Forest winning twice and Malmo winning once.
Nottingham Forest Form
While Nottingham Forest have not been at their best across their European campaign, they are still in contention for a top spot after losing just one of their opening four.
Forest have taken a point from Real Betis and Sturm Graz in two battling draws on the road, while they eased past Porto in a 2-0 win at home. Their sole defeat came in match week two as they were stunned in a 3-2 loss to Midtjylland. Away from this defeat, Forest have been fairly solid across the competition.
Against Malmo, Forest simply have to win. Two wins from three home games is a fairly good record, and they will fancy their chances against a side that are yet to win in the competition this year. With clean sheets coming in their last two in Europe, I back Forest to win in a tight match.
Malmo Form
Malmo are looking to pick up their first win of the season in Europe after a poor start has seen the side secure a single point from a possible 12.
More worrying will be that they have already played three home games, with one drawing coming in this time. Their only away game of the season ended in a comfortable 3-0 loss to Plzen back in match week two.
Malmo have found goals tough to come by, meaning they will more than likely arrive for this one looking to stay compact as they try to perform a real smash and grab. I predict a tight clash in this one, but I do not see the travelling side picking up any form of points.
Verdict
I am backing a Forest win in a game that sees less than 2.5 goals scored.
