Crystal Palace vs Newcastle

Crystal Palace have struggled this season, with the side winning just 10 of their 30 matches. While they sit 10 clear of West Ham in 19th and one point short of the supposed safety 40 points brings, they will be disappointed that a run of nine without a win featuring six defeats across December, January and February really saw much of their momentum curtailed.

Newcastle will still be reeling from their 2-1 home loss to Sunderland in their last league game as a two-match winning run was brought to an end in the worst possible way. Victories over Manchester United and Chelsea have kept the Magpies in the top six equation, but frustrating defeats have been costing them.

Against Palace, Newcastle have been fairly good of late. Their last five meetings have ended in three wins for the Magpies along with one draw and one defeat. With Newcastle winning two of their last three on the road and Palace winning just three of their 15 at home this season, I am backing an away win in this one.

Chelsea vs Manchester City

Chelsea's hopes of securing a top four spot took a blow in their last league game as a 3-0 loss to Everton saw the Blues trundle to a second consecutive defeat. Despite their 7-0 win over Port Vale in the last round of the FA Cup, confidence in the group must be low, with a four-game losing run across competitions featuring an 8-2 aggregate loss to PSG in Europe.

Manchester City's last two outings have seen Pep Guardiola's men end Arsenal's hopes of a quadruple as the former won the EFL Cup, while they hammered Liverpool 4-0 in the FA Cup last weekend. Currently sitting nine points behind Arsenal with a game in hand, City cannot afford to drop points if they are to put pressure on the Gunners.

While Chelsea have the quality to frustrate City, I predict that they will fall short of a side with a lot to play for. While Chelsea can still secure a top four berth, they have often struggled to weave together big performances, and I predict they will falter once more.
