PSG vs Tottenham Preview & Tips
PSG are looking to bounce back from their frustrating 2-1 loss to Bayern Munich in their last Champions League match as their perfect start to the competition was brought to an end.
Tottenham hammered Copenhagen 4-0 last time out as they put an end to a two-game winless run.
- PSG have won three of their four in the Champions League (L1)
- Tottenham are yet to win on the road this season (D2)
- PSG have seen both sides score in their last three European games
Head To Head
The pair have met twice before, with Tottenham winning once and one game ending as a draw after 90 minutes.
PSG Form
PSG know that they need to put in a big performance in their fifth Champions League match after they were left stunned by Bayern Munich in a 2-1 loss on their own patch.
Prior to this, PSG had won all three of their previous games, beating Atalanta 4-0, Barcelona 2-1 and Bayer Leverkusen 7-2. Perhaps their win over Leverkusen gave PSG a false sense of what was to come against Bayern, although it is worth noting the two German sides have embarked on vastly differing seasons so far.
This week, I back a reaction from the reigning European champions. They easily beat Le Havre 3-0 at the weekend, and they will target a fourth win in five attempts in the competition. With their last three matches in the Champions League seeing both sides score, I believe that the French side will have to find a way to outscore their opponents after conceding once again.
Tottenham Form
Tottenham may have managed to avoid defeat across their Champions League campaign so far, but they have hardly shone in Europe's top competition.
A 1-0 win over Villarreal in game one was followed by a 2-2 draw with Bodo/Glimt and a 0-0 draw with Monaco. Both matches could have ended in defeat for Tottenham, with the English side riding their luck throughout each game.
Their last match did end in a 4-0 win over Copenhagen, but this was a result Tottenham should be securing at home against a weaker side. Now, they travel to take on the European champions, and I predict that they will slip to their first European loss of the season in game five.
Verdict
I back PSG to overcome conceding a goal in their clash with Tottenham as they get back to winning ways in the Champions League.
