Real Madrid have been in fine form this season, with the reigning champions winning seven of their opening 10 and drawing the other three.

Their exploits would have been enough to see them to the summit if it were not for the brilliant start Barcelona have made. A victory in this one would see the pair locked on 27 points, and it would see all of the momentum swing in Real's favour.

With a stunning 5-2 win over Borussia Dortmund in midweek extending their winning run in all competitions to three games, I am backing Real to make a major statement this weekend.

Barcelona arrive for their biggest La Liga game of the season on the back of a brilliant 4-1 win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Their victory extended their run of wins in all competitions to four matches, and they can edge further clear at the top of the table with a win at the weekend. However, Barcelona have lost their last two away games against Real.

While I do predict that Robert Lewandowski will continue his fine run in front of goal, I believe it will count for nothing as Barcelona slip to their second defeat of the season.
