Real Madrid vs Benfica Preview & Tips
Real Madrid are looking to build on their 1-0 win over Benfica in the first-leg of their Champions League playoff clash last week.
Benfica were beaten 1-0 by Real Madrid in their last European outing as they made it two defeats in their last three in the competition.

The pair have met three times before, with Real winning once and Benfica winning twice.
Real Madrid Form
Real Madrid came away from their meeting with Benfica with a one-goal advantage after a battling performance in the first-leg of their playoff.
This win made up for their 4-2 loss to the same opponents in the final match of the group-stage, with this seeing Real dragged into the playoffs. Now, the Spanish side will look to build on their impressive home record, which has seen them win three of their four on their own patch in Europe, by beating Benfica once again.
Kylian Mbappe has been in scintillating form this season, netting 13 European goals, while he has scored eight goals across his last six in all competitions. While Mbappe failed to score in the first-leg, I back him to score in the return fixture.
Benfica Form
Benfica are really up against it if they are to stay in the Champions League this season after failing to take advantage of home advantage in the first-leg against Real.
Now, the Portuguese side travel to take on Real, with Benfica already losing to Chelsea, Newcastle and Juventus on the road. Their sole win away from home came against Ajax, with the Portuguese outfit unable to really garner any momentum on the road.
This week, I back their need to win by a goal after 90 minutes to stay in the tie to cost them as they press forward looking for goals. Real’s side is crammed full of world class talent, and they will knock their opponents out with a win in the second-leg.
Verdict
I am backing Real to storm to victory as Kylian Mbappe continues his excellent scoring form in the Champions League.
