Tottenham vs Chelsea Preview & Tips
Tottenham eased past Everton in their last league game as they secured an important 3-0 win over the Toffees.
Chelsea slipped to a frustrating 2-1 loss at the hands of Sunderland in their last league game as their two-match winning run in the competition was brought to an end.
- Tottenham have failed to win any of their last three home games in the league (L2, D1)
- Chelsea have won their last four against Spurs
- Tottenham have seen both sides score in their last two home games in the Premier League
Head To Head
Chelsea have won eight of their last 10 against Tottenham, with Spurs winning once and one game ending as a draw.
Tottenham Form
Tottenham may currently sit in third in the Premier League, but they have been incredibly inconsistent at home, with the side struggling to win matches in front of their own fans.
Across the league, Spurs have won five of their nine, drawing twice and losing twice. However, only one of these wins has come at their own stadium, with one draw and two defeats coming at home. Defeats to both Bournemouth and Aston Villa have sandwiched their home draw with Wolves, with Tottenham not able to make their own stadium a fortress.
Goals have not really been an issue for Spurs this season, with the side only failing to score in one of their opening nine. However, their poor form on their own patch is such that I am backing against them getting anything from their fierce rivals.
Chelsea Form
Much like Tottenham, Chelsea have been very inconsistent this season, with the Blues sitting in ninth in the standings with 14 points. Importantly, the Blues may be six places below Tottenham in third, but they are only three points behind them.
Of their four wins, Chelsea have secured two victories on the road. Meanwhile, only one of their three defeats have come away from home, with Chelsea notching seven of a possible 12 points in away games this season.
With victories in their last four meetings with Tottenham, I predict that Chelsea's good form on the road will see Tottenham's poor home run extended. I do predict that Spurs will hit the back of the net for the ninth time in 10 league games, but I back Chelsea to outscore their hosts.
Verdict
I am backing Chelsea to take all three points for the fifth consecutive time against Tottenham as both sides fail to keep a clean sheet.
