Tottenham vs Newcastle Preview & Tips
Tottenham were beaten 2-0 by Manchester United in their last game as their winless run in the competition was extended to seven matches.
Newcastle are now four without a win after a stunning 3-2 loss to Brentford at St James' Park.
- Spurs have drawn two of their last three in the league (L1)
- The Magpies have drawn four of their 12 on the road this season (W2, L6)
- Two of the last three meetings involving the sides have ended in draws
Head To Head
Tottenham have won two of their last 10 against Newcastle, with the Magpies winning six times and two matches ending as draws.
Tottenham Form
Tottenham have been in awful form in the league this season, with the London side now just six points clear of West Ham and the relegation zone.
Their 2-0 loss to Manchester United saw any good-feeling created by their 2-2 draw with Manchester City the week before vanish, with Spurs once again failing to win. Incredibly, Tottenham have won less than a third of their games (seven), drawing eight times and losing 10 matches.
With the relegation zone now just six points behind, Spurs have to find a way to start picking up points. However, I foresee another tough day at the office for Tottenham as they fail to end a losing run that will stand at eight games prior to their clash with the Magpies.
Newcastle Form
Newcastle have seen their hopes of securing a top four spot in the Premier League take a massive blow as a single point from their last four games means they are now 11 points short of Manchester United in fourth.
Their 3-2 loss to Brentford saw them bring the scores level at 2-2 in the 79th minute but they conceded with five minutes of normal time to go to see any hope of taking a point evade them. With just 33 points from their 25 matches, the Magpies are only four points better off than their hosts, showing that they are also not completely out of the relegation equation.
While I expect the Magpies to improve their form in the coming weeks, I predict that they will have to remain content with a point as their winless run in the league extends to five-matches.
Verdict
I am backing the points to be shared as the two Premier League strugglers fail to notch a crucial win.
