Jannik Sinner was far too good for Daniil Medvedev in the quarter-finals in Shanghai as he romped to a 2-0 win to move into the semi-finals.

Tomas Machac stunned Carlos Alcaraz in his last match as he eliminated his opponent in a pulsating 7-6 7-5 win.

The pair have met once before, with Sinner beating his opponent in two sets when they played in Miami back in March.

Jannik Sinner has looked in good touch of late, storming to three straight-sets wins in his last four outings.

A 6-1 6-4 triumph against Daniil Medvedev saw Sinner easily beat an opponent some had predicted might give Sinner a real test. As it was, Medvedev could not keep up with his opponent as Sinner eliminated him without breaking a sweat.

Having only tasted defeat in six of his 69 matches this year, it is tough to see Sinner losing against an opponent that has been beaten 18 times in 2024.

Tomas Machac Form

Tomas Machac has eliminated a number of big names on his way to the semi-finals in Shanghai, but he saved his best performance for the quarter-finals.

Faced with Carlos Alcaraz, Machac took the clash in his stride as he battled to a stunning 7-6 7-5 win over his opponent. This win came on the back of eliminating Tommy Paul in the fourth round, with Machac in fine form.

While Machac has made a point of winning big matches in Shanghai this year, I am backing against him eliminating Sinner in the semi-finals as he falls a single step from the final.
