Iga Swiatek is yet to drop a set the the US Open in 2024, with her 6-4 6-1 win over Liudmila Samsonova seeing the world number one flexing her skills on the court once again.

Not to be outdone, Jessica Pegula is also yet to drop a set, with a commanding 6-4 6-2 win over Diana Shnaider an impressive win.

The pair have met nine times, with Swiatek leading the head to head 6-3 including victory in their last meeting back in November 2023.

Iga Swiatek has rarely been troubled at the US Open in 2024, with four wins seeing her play eight sets and win eight sets.

Incredibly, her 6-4 7-6 win over Kamilla Rakhimova in the first round remains the closest she has come to dropping a set, with her next three outings failing to see any opponent win more than six total games.

While I do predict that Pegula will have her say in this one as two of the in-form players clash on the circuit, I am backing Swiatek to move into another Grand Slam semi-final having lost a set for the first time.

Jessica Pegula Form

Jessica Pegula has made winning at the US Open look easy, with wins in straight-sets coming in each of her four outings.

A 6-4 6-2 win over Diana Shnaider in the fourth round was particularly impressive as Pegula was able to deal with being the big favourite as she barely broke a sweat. Her 34th win in 45 matches shows she has been good across the season, but she now faces a massive test if she is to move into the semi-finals.

While Pegula has been able to beat her opponent in three of their nine meetings, I believe this pressure match at the US Open will see Pegula eliminated. Swiatek has been brilliant across the competition, and while I back Pegula to secure a set, I do not see her winning this one.
