Alex de Minaur eventually saw-off the challenge of Jordan Thompson in the last round as he secured a 3-1 win.

Jack Draper has really impressed at the 2024 US open, with the youngster managing to win all four of his match without dropping a single set.

Of course, the quality of opposition will continue to increase if he goes further in the competition, but Draper will not need to worry about being completely outplayed by any of the players left in the tournament. Indeed, with both Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz already out, the difference in quality between the best and the rest is far smaller.

Despite this, I predict that Draper will fall at the hands of his opponent in valiant style. I am backing Draper to take his opponent all the way only to see his hopes of securing a first Grand Slam crown dashed.

Alex de Minaur Form

Alex de Minaur has looked in good form at the US Open, with his lack of tennis between his quarter-final appearance at Wimbledon and the US open benefitting him.

A 6-0 3-6 6-3 7-5 win over Jordan Thompson in the fourth round saw de Minaur completely outplayed in the second set, but he showed his ability to bounce back as he notched a 3-1 win to move into the quarter-finals.

While de Minaur is not my pick to win the competition this year, I am backing him to secure a big win over Draper. The two will likely play out an exhilarating match, with the 25-year-old moving into the semi-finals.
