Jannik Sinner has been excellent at the 2024 US Open, winning his last two matches in straight sets as he continues to prove that he is a real threat at the final Slam of the year.

His 6-1 6-4 6-2 win over Christopher O'Connell in his last outing looked like a regulation win, but it was a lot more than that. Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz have both been eliminated early, and the pressure is well and truly on Sinner to win the competition.

With two wins in his last three against Tommy Paul, Sinner will fancy his chances of notching the win and moving into the quarter-finals of the competition.

Tommy Paul has not had everything his own way at the US Open, with each of his completed matches seeing him drop a set.

His win over Max Purcell may have ended in a win in straight-sets, with his opponent forced to retire. However, Paul was then taken to four sets by Gabriel Diallo in the third round as he had to dig in, winning the first and last sets via tie breaks.

While Paul has been good this year, he has still lost 14 of his 52 matches, and with a limp 6-4 6-4 defeat at the hands of Sinner in their last meeting, I am backing Paul to once again lose comfortably.
