Taylor Fritz secured a stunning win in four sets of Alexander Zverev as he crept closer to a shot at the US Open title.

Frances Tiafoe eliminated Grigor Dimitrov in the quarter-finals, with the latter forced to retire in the fourth set.

Taylor Fritz has been in fine form of late, and he looks like he has what it takes to finally end his wait for his maiden Grand Slam title.

A trio of wins in straight-sets across the first, second and third rounds was followed by wins in four over Casper Ruud and Alexander Zverev. His win over Ruud was his most impressive performance in a complete match, although victory over Zverev was equally as entertaining.

While anything can happen in the pressure of a semi-final match in a Grand Slam, Fritz's record against Tiafoe speaks for itself, and I am backing him to notch his seventh consecutive win over his opponent this week.

Frances Tiafoe Form

Frances Tiafoe has had his fair share of big matches at the US Open, with wins over Ben Shelton, Alexei Popyrin and Grigor Dimitrov seeing him take his place in the semi-finals.

His win over Dimitrov came courtesy of his opponent retiring, although Tiafoe was 2-1 up in the match, while he lead 4-1 in the fourth set. Victory was close long before his opponent retired.

While Tiafoe has been good of late, he has lost 20 of his 49 outings this year. Meanwhile, he has lost his last six meetings with Fritz, with his last win back in 2016 a very long time ago.
